Hudson's Luck by Lucy Lennox
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Not my favorite. Hudson has been straight all his life until he meets Charlie and he's just gay for Charlie. It's as ridiculous as it sounds. Another reviewer mentioned how hard it is to picture Charlie and Hudson together and how it's like a Chihuahua humping a German Shepard and yes, that's the perfect description. I had a very, very, hard time imagining Charlie, (apparently he's so feminine looking everyone thinks he's a woman). I ended up googling red haired models which wasn't a bad way to spend an afternoon. You'd think the conflict of this story would be about Hudson coming to terms with being gay after years of being straight but really that's dealt with quickly and isn't that big of a deal. The real conflict is lack of communication. They really don't talk much and that causes lots of hurt feelings, confusion, and distrust.
I wouldn't recommend this book, obviously I will continue to read the series, but this one can be skipped.
Why the series is a little bit unbelievable but still really good: everyone's gay or bi or at least that is how it seems. This series is based out of a small town in Texas and follows the "Wilde" family who have two patriarchs Doc and Grandpa. Doc was married to a woman at one time and had lots of kids with her, when she died, he married Grandpa and they raised up all the kids. This series is not about those kids. It's about the umpteen hundred Grand kids, mostly "Bill and Shelby's" kids. They all get along wonderfully (which is also another thing that makes this book a bit unbelievable because who gets along that wonderfully with their siblings?)
