Wilde Fire by Lucy Lennox
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Why it's a little bit unbelievable but still really good: everyone's gay or bi or at least that is how it seems. This series is based out of a small town in Texas and follows the "Wilde" family who have two patriarchs Doc and Grandpa. Doc was married to a woman at one time and had lots of kids with her, when she died, he married Grandpa and they raised up all the kids. This series is not about those kids. It's about the umpteen hundred Grand kids, mostly "Bill and Shelby's" kids. They all get along wonderfully (which is also another thing that makes this book a bit unbelievable because who gets along that wonderfully with their siblings?)
So with that being the basis of this series, this particular story is about Otto (Wilde Man) and Seth (Walker). The really sweet part about this is that Otto always makes sure Seth is "okay". Seth and Otto are best friends from 8 years of age on. They grow up together, lose their virginity together (at the same time with the same girl, that's when they realize they'd rather be together), and are high school sweethearts (remember this is small town Texas and yet they aren't too secret about their love). Last year of high school, life circumstances change and they are separated. 10 years pass and life happens to both of them. They find their way back to each other and the romance is instant and just as powerful. There is a deeper plot that involves an arson investigation that keeps the story interesting.
I would recommend this book, obviously I liked it since I've continued to read the series. It's ok, just ok. It's super sweet when their teenage love is discussed because they really loved each other. Some will say this has cheating in it, only in the since of teenage love rarely lasts and they did separate (literally states apart) and other sex partners are found. Overall It's a sweet read with real angst and the struggle / love was believable.
