And then I became an old woman. . .

This weekend I decided I wanted to learn to knit. Normally when I get these crazy ideas about learning something new my rational brain kicks in and reminds me I'm not good with frustration, but this weekend rational thought was on holiday.  Since no one jumped at the chance to teach me, I knew I needed some kind of guide.  Knowing me so well, I knew I'd needed a step by step guide with pictures - LOTS of pictures.  I also found videos on the internet thanks to some knitting buddies of mine. Saturday, I gave hubby his Valentine's gift, a chainsaw, and he gave me my gift, a nifty new glider, and then we went our separate ways.  Him to cut down as many things in his path and I to learn the art of knitting.  I quickly learned why artists are described as tortured souls, cause this whole learning thing is painful.  During my first few attempts, which involved minimal amounts of cussing and lots shouting "gaaah", my wonderful young daughter came by and inquired about my age.  She lives for context clues and since I was sitting on the porch knitting, obviously I have become an old woman.  This was not really the encouragement I needed at that stage in my learning process, she did help me learn the art of dropping stitches.  After many beginnings, and many more starting overs, I have part of a project! I hope to complete it in a week. I have no idea what it's gonna be but it's gonna be something I made with my own two hands!  Below are pictures of my wonderful Valentine's present - something I have wanted for months and months.
